Anniversary weekend commemorating the Battle of Fredericksburg, Va.

Saturday, Dec 8, 2007

  • 11 am-5 pm – Innis House open

  • 9 am – “Minie Balls and Bayonets”
    NPS program and firing demonstration in the Sunken Road

  • 10 am – “Thunder on the Heights”
    NPS artillery program on Marye’s Heights

  • 11:30 am – “Fire in the Streets” living history urban combat 500 block Hanover Street downtown

  • Noon–2 pm – Living history downtown

  • Noon – “Minie Balls and Bayonets”
    NPS program and firing demonstration in the Sunken Road

  • 12:30 pm – “Thunder on the Heights”
    NPS artillery program on Marye’s Heights

  • 1 pm – “In the Vortex: A Walk Through the Slaughter Pen”
    NPS tour begins off Route 2 at the sign, about ¾ mile south of Route 638/Landsdowne Road

  • 2 pm – “Minie Balls and Bayonets”
    NPS program and firing demonstration in the Sunken Road

  • 2:30 pm – “Thunder on the Heights” NPS artillery program on Marye’s Heights

  • 3 pm – “Barksdale’s Retreat” living history reenactment street battle on Marye Street

  • 3:30 pm – “Battle of Maryre’s Heights” living history reenactment, Irish Brigade attack against the stone wall at Marye Street and Trench Road
    Concludes with Kirkland reenactment

  • 6 pm – “The Devastation of Battle:
    A Lantern tour of the Sunken Road”

Sunday, Dec 9, 2007

  • 11 am–8 pm – Innis House open

  • 10 am – “Minie Balls and Bayonets” NPS program and firing demonstration in the Sunken Road

  • 11 am – “Thunder on the Heights” NPS artillery program on Marye’s Heights

  • Noon – NPS guided tour of the route of the Irish Brigade to the Stone Wall
    Meets at the City Dock on Sophia Street

  • 2 pm – NPS ceremony at the Kirkland Monument

  • 3 pm – “Thunder on the Heights”
    NPS artillery program on Marye’s Heights
