Civil War Traveler

Podcast How-to

You may want to just sample the experience at your computer. If so, click on a "Listen" link.

You may want to take the file with you to the site. If so, and if you have no prior experience with podcasts, please start by downloading and installing iTunes software on your computer. iTunes is free for Mac and PC. To get it, visit iTunes and then use the "Download" button.

Once you have iTunes installed, go to the iTunes store and search for "Civil War Tours," or just use this link from here: Civil War Tours at iTunes. If you have difficulty with the link, as happens when the iTunes Store is having technical difficulties, use this method:

  • In iTunes, under the "Advanced" menu at the top of the screen, choose "Subscribe to podcast...."
  • A small box will appear. Into the box, type exactly or paste this URL: http://www.studiosofrichmond.org/CivilWarBattlefieldTours/rss.xml
  • Click the OK button.

When you have subscribed from iTunes or elsewhere, Civil War Traveler Tours will be listed in your iTunes Library under Podcasts. The latest episode should be downloaded automatically. To get the rest, click "Get All" or for just one, click "Get" besides its name.

How to get a particular tour:

When you first subscribe, the most recent tour will download automatically. If the tour you want does not download, look at Civil War Tours in your iTunes menu. Click on the small triangle to the left and it then will "drop down" a list of all the Civil War Tours. There will be a "get" button to the right of the tours you have not downloaded. If the one you want has a "get" button, click it.

What to do with the podcasts:

Copy the file to your iPod or other mp3 player, or you can burn the file to a CD and play it on a portable CD player.
